The San Diego Jewish Journal is the pioneer Jewish lifestyles
magazine on the West Coast. It was founded in October 2001 by Dr. Mark Moss
and Mark Edelstein who shared the vision of a Jewish magazine that spoke
to Jews of all movements and traditions. The Journal published its first
issue in December 2001 and has more than tripled its size since birth. It
now reaches more than 19,000 Jewish households throughout San Diego, Palm
Springs and Temecula Valley.
SDJJ has now launched a sister publication. The Orange
County Jewish Life showcasing the variety and vitality of Jewish
Orange County.

Mark Moss is a long-time veteran of organized
Jewish life. From 1983-84, he was president of the San Mateo chapter
of Magen David Adom. From 1986-92, he served as executive director
of Congregation Beth El in La Jolla. From 1995-2000, he was executive
director of Congregation Beth Am. He is currently a member of two
San Diego area synagogues and is married with three beautiful daughters.
His wife of 28 years, Ellen, is a preschool teacher. |

Edelstein - Co-publisher & Advertising Director |

Mark Edelstein is a veteran of three
decades in advertising sales. In 1986, he started his own advertising
firm, Edelstein, Inc., where he sold in all media, primarily to the
Jewish community. A former schoolteacher and would-be stand-up comedian,
Edelstein is a member of Congregation Beth Israel in La Jolla, California.
He and his beautiful wife Susan have three wonderful children. |

Debra Kamin is the former assistant editor
of the SDJJ and former managing editor of The Skidmore News, the official
newspaper of Skidmore College, where she graduated with a degree in
psychology in 2004. She has also interned at Variety magazine, where
she interviewed Bill Gates, Brad Pitt and John Travolta, among others.
Just before joining The Journal, she spent five months in Israel living
on a kibbutz and learning Hebrew. |

Laurie Miller came to The Journal
from Lafayette, Louisiana, where she was a graphic designer for the
Times of Acadiana, an alternative weekly newspaper. Her work
in printmaking has been shown in galleries throughout the south. |

Dailey - Graphic Designer |

|
Jon Dailey graduated from SDSU in Fine Arts. Originally
from Indiana he moved to San Diego in '95 to study the arts at SDSU
and design at San Diego Art Institute. He got his start working in
the newspaper industry before joining the San Diego Jewish Journal. |

Zach Reff graduated from Brandeis University this
year with a B.A. in American Studies and minors in Journalism and
Theatre. While at Brandeis Reff founded LIES Magazine, an indie music
‘zine that rocked so hard it self- destructed within a year,
and also wrote in-depth features for the student newspaper. Additionally,
Reff has worked for JVibe Magazine, and has had both his poetry and
fiction published. |
