What happens when some of the most active, exciting individuals in San Diego get together?
Controlled chaos.

Business cards are exchanged. Mutual acquaintances are discussed. Informal deals are struck. Still, when nine of San Diego’s 10 most exciting Jews recently gathered at a Carmel Valley photo studio, the predominant sound – other than a symphony of cell phone rings – was laughter.

The 10 young leaders, artists and visionaries you’ll read about over the next 10 pages are the best and brightest of San Diego’s next generation.

They are all the more remarkable for coming from an age group (20-35) that typically is unconnected to their Judaism.

Over the course of several months, the Journal winnowed down a list of informal nominees from all corners of the Jewish world. They are all under 36, chosen for its significance as “double chai.” (And many of them are so accomplished that it’s as if they’ve already lived two lives.) So come meet some amazing young men and women who are not just leaders today, but are ready to take the reins of leadership for tomorrow and beyond.
