why he’s on this list:
If it has to do with Judaism at SDSU, Berezovsky is part of
it. Founding father of AEPi – he’s known as “Mr. AEPi”
on campus – Jewish Student Union president, member of the Hillel
board of directors: you name the Jewish organization, he’s involved.
“In college, you need good leaders to create good programs and organizations,”
he explains. “That’s why I helped start AEPi… because
we’re Jewish, we have a brotherhood that gives us an automatic bond
that’s stronger than other fraternities.”
if you don’t know the words, just hum along:
Berezovsky also dedicates a lot of time to Jewish youth, serving
as both a NFTY advisor and a counselor at the JCC. “You find a lot
of people who aren’t religious at all, and never knew about their
religion,” he notes, adding that when his family emigrated here
from the Ukraine in 1988, he knew very little about Judaism. “So
they feel left out. I’m very good at bringing them in. I don’t
know how to read Hebrew that well, so I just memorized all the songs and
I read the English transliterations. I tell them it just takes time, and
you’ll know the songs in less than a week.”

where will he be in 18 years?
“I want to be a philanthropist, continuing on the same
path of involvement that I am now,” he says. “If I’m
monetarily successful, I’ll certainly be giving to the community,
and if not with money, then definitely with my time and my knowledge.”
